Kim Peters joined the City of Rutland Recreation Department in 2017 and is excited to see the progress the department has made since her arrival. She comes to us from Killington Parks and Recreation Department, where she spent four years as the Director. Before Vermont, Kim held a position as the YMCA Pool Director in Ohio, where she also was a USA Certified Swim Coach. With four teenage kids, Kim spends her free time supporting them in their athletic achievements!

Bob Peterson: Parks Director
Bob came to our department in 1995 as a Master Mechanic with a background in construction. He has completed the Pool Operator and Certified Play Structure Courses. In 2003, Bob became the Parks Director and has found his work in the Maintenance Department to be highly rewarding. Many parks and facilities have seen complete makeovers under his supervision, including the refrigeration of Giorgetti Ice Arena and the new White Memorial Park Pool. During Hurricane Irene in 2011, the Recreation Department experienced great damage to many parks, Bob and his team worked endlessly to see that the fields and parks were restored. Bob has treasured his time at the Rec, and looks forward to the future of the department.
Jeff Pratt: Maintenance Specialist II
Jeff has been with the Recreation Department since the early 70’s and has served many different roles during his time. He started out managing and maintaining Rotary Park’s outdoor ice rinks, and was instrumental in the opening of Giorgetti Ice Arena. At Giorgetti, Jeff was the lead Skating Instructor while also managing the Rink. In the early 80’s Jeff moved over to work at the Godnick Adult Center where he coordinated and supervised the trips for twenty years. It was not until the early 2000’s when Jeff joined our Maintenance Department. During the Winter you can find Jeff at Giorgetti Arena caring for the ice, but Jeff’s true passion is getting softball, baseball and little league fields ready for game day! Jeff is grateful to have had so many different roles in this department over the years.
April Cioffi: Program Director, Godnick Adult Center
April has been with the Recreation and Parks Department since 2006. She is a native Rutland Resident who graduated from Rutland High and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Saint Michael's College. In 2014 she received her Certified Parks and Recreation Professional certificate and was honored as the Vermont Parks and Recreation Association's Young Professional 2017. With the recent retirement on co-worker Lori Hickey, April has embraced the opportunity to serve as the Godnick Center program director. She is also passionate about working with other organization to offer community events.
Tyler Dahlin: Foreman
Tyler started with the Recreation Department as a seasonal employee in 2002 while attending Castleton University. He has experienced many transformations to our parks and facilities, and is enthusiastic about continuing the momentum to upgrade our parks and facilities. He was part of the restoration efforts after Hurricane Irene. When he was hired full-time, he was able to continue his education through the Recreation Department. He is a Certified Play Structure Inspector and Certified Pool Operator. He has completed two years worth of courses at Maintenance Management School at Oglebay in West Virginia. Tyler looks forward to continuing his career with the department.
Kyle Bourgeois: Maintenance Specialist II
Kyle started with the Maintenance Department as a seasonal worker after Graduating from Castleton University in 2009 and has since worked his way up to being a full-time Maintenance Specialist II. He is a Certified Play Structure Inspector and a Certified Pool Operator. Kyle is the OSHA Safety Supervisor for the Recreation Department. During the Winter, Kyle can be found at Giorgetti Arena maintaining the ice. In the Spring and Summer, he specializes in lining and painting our sports fields. Kyle looks forward to continuing to improve our parks for the community.
Nicole Densmore: Program Director, Youth Sports
Nicole is in her fifth year at the Rutland Recreation Department. She is a native Vermonter and graduated from Castleton University with a degree in sports administration and from College of St Joseph with a Masters in Elementary Education. During her tenure at the Rec she has also received her certification as a Parks and Recreation Professional and her certification as a Youth Sports Administrator. Nicole is excited about the direction that our sports programs will be going in the future.

Conrad Zeller: Maintenance Specialist I
Conrad started at the Recreation Department as a seasonal worker while studying at Castleton University. Conrad was hired as a Maintenance Specialist I full time and continued his studying through the Maintenance Department. He is a Certified Pool Operator and is currently working toward his Maintenance Management Certification at Oglebay in West Virginia. Conrad spends his Winters maintaining ice at Giorgetti Arena and his Summers developing new plans for our parks.
Zach Phelps: Maintenance Specialist I
Zach is rounding his sixth year with the Maintenance team. Starting with the Recreation Department as a seasonal emp loyee, he has worked his way up to a full-time Maintenance Specialist I and is working toward his Maintenance Specialist ll Certification. Zach spends his Winters at Giorgetti Arena maintaining the ice. During the Summer you will find Zach caring for all of our fields and checking on the pool as a Certified Pool Operator.
Michael Loso: Custodian II
Mike came to our department in the Summer of 2014 as a part of our Maintenance team, he spent that Summer learning about our parks and facilities and how to maintain them. During the Winter Mike worked at Giorgetti Arena, where he was trained as a Zamboni Operator. After his first year at the department, he was offered a Custodian position, where he now spends his days traveling to each of our facilities to ensure they are ready for the community.
Britt Malmgren: Program Director, Giorgetti Athletic Complex
A recent graduate from the University of New Hampshire, Britt is the Program Director for Giorgetti Arena, Indoor Turf and FlipSide Skate Park. Britt maintains a strong focus in coordinating special events. With a passion for professional development, Britt enjoys interacting with the community and receiving feedback. With high expectations in her career development, Britt is always looking to improve her networking with the partnerships she has had the opportunity to collaborate with, along with establishing new partnerships. Britt is excited to see what the future holds!
Nikki Adams: Program Director, Arts and Theatre
Nikki is a Rutland native who joined the Recreation Department just in time for the opening of the White Memorial Park Pool! She has enjoyed getting to work with all of the lifeguards and pool staff this summer and will be taking over Arts and Theater programs this fall. Nikki attended Castleton University for her MA in Education and her BA in Sociology. She also went abroad to Durham University (UK) for her MA in Social Science & Culture. You can find Nikki coaching local sports, teaching fitness, or playing music, all while looking forward to everything her new role in the community has to offer!

Colleen Landon-Shattuck: Social Media and Community Outreach Coordinator
Colleen joined the Recreation team in May 2018 and has enjoyed her first summer season. As a recent grad from Castleton University's Athletic Leadership 17' masters program, and University of Vermont's Public Communication bachelors program - Colleen is eager to assist our team in anyway necessary, you can find her at our registration desk, assisting our program directors, taking photos at special events, or booking our facilities for rental!

Bobby Bergen: Maintenance Apprentice
Bobby joined the Recreation crew in Summer 2018 and is looking forward to staying on year-round with the rest of the Maintenance Team! He has enjoyed learning how to care for each of our different parks and facilities. In the future, Bobby hopes to continue his education in our maintenance department and work toward becoming a Maintenance Specialist I.
Denise Greene: Administrative Assistant, Godnick Adult Center
You may recognize Denise from working the front desk at the Main Office, but she now has a new role at the Recreation Department! Denise joined the Godnick Center team last Summer and is a welcoming addition to this branch of our Department. She is excited for all of the new responsibilities that come with this new position, including the Godnick Center's facility rentals!
