— Lending participant 2021 Season

The Rutland E-bike Lending Library consists of multiple e-bikes that are available for FREE multi-day loans from May to October, providing residents with access to borrow an e-bike. The goal is to provide residents with an opportunity to try an e-bike in their daily lives without financial commitment, and to allow residents to learn what the best type of e-bike is for them.

Our fleet has e-bikes at two locations: Rutland Recreation Community Center and Godnick Adult Center.

How it Works for Borrowers

  1. Head to the reservations page (See Below) to reserve your loan period.

  2. Choose the available dates (see each e-bike on the reservation page for details) and complete the form. You'll receive a confirmation email.

  3. Complete the waiver, onsite training, and demo ride.

  4. Have fun and enjoy a car-free life!

  5. Return the bike on the last day of your loan period at your selected time.

  6. Return the bike fully charged, with the exception of if you are riding your bike to your return.

Please Read Below Before Reserving a Bike! - Important Borrowing Details!

  • Overnight storage: You must be able to store bikes in a locked indoor location at a primary residential residence to be eligible to borrow a bike. We can not lend e-bikes to hotels/temporary residences without a sponsoring agency. We're sorry if you can't meet this requirement, but we can't afford to lose them! Also, note that some of the bikes are heavy so some bikes won't be able to go upstairs. See each bike for weights below.

  • Transport from pick-up: Ideally, you will ride the e-bike home. If that is not possible, you will need to transport the bike in a truck, van, or SUV.*(Some bikes will not fit in a van/ SUV due to their large size). We cannot send e-bikes out on car bike racks due to the risk of rack failure (it has happened).

  • Cargo: When carrying heavy items, be sure to balance the weight on both sides of the bike to prevent wobbly and sketchy riding.

  • Child seats: The RadWagon has an optional child seat to borrow.

  • Helmet: We will supply you with a helmet if you do not have your own. Helmets are REQUIRED to be worn at all times throughout the lending period.

  • Locks: We will supply you with a lock if you do not have your own.

  • Reservations: You may NOT reserve the same model bike(s) for multiple loan periods in a row, this is a high-demand offering and we want to allow as many people the opportunity to try the bikes as possible.

  • Age: This lending program is for ages 18+.
