Rutland Recreation and Parks Department (RRPD) is currently recruiting instructors and course/program ideas for both youth and adults for the Spring/Summer Season. The key to our program success is based on our quality instructors and their dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge. You may have a specific interest, hobby or expertise to share. RRPD offers a wide variety of classes, activities and camps that meet the diverse needs and interests of the Rutland community. Adult offerings can be one night workshops, active classes or unique programs. Youth programs can be offered for a on a weekly basis or a one time workshop in fitness, sports, arts, nature and enrichment. If you are not familiar with what is currently being offered please check out our links at the top of the page.
Program Date Information
• Your program dates should be planned between March - August. You should avoid scheduling your program on holidays.
• Please do not plan on starting your program until March (unless you have received permission from RRPD). This gives participants enough time to register for classes. Programs that start too close to the registration date rarely go!
Program Fee Information
We make every effort to keep our programs affordable and accessible. However, during these fiscally challenging times we are expected to operate at a “self-sustaining” level. RRPD will add up to 30% of the instructor fee plus $2 to get the advertised fee.
Here’s an example based on adding 30%: If the instructor wants $50 per person then RRPD will add an additional $17.00 (30% of $50, + $2) to the instructor fee. The instructor would get $50 per person and RRPD would get $17 per person. The course fee would be advertised at $67. Instructors may also elect to split the net class profit 70/30 with 70% going to the instructor and up to 30% going to RRPD. Please keep this in mind as you set your fees for salary requests and supplies. Please note that lab fees can be charged to the student and are payable directly to the instructor.
All Spring/Summer course proposals must be received by January 15. If we do not hear from you by January 15, we will assume that you are not interested in teaching in the upcoming session.
Should you have any questions, or need some assistance in helping to create or modify a course proposal, please feel free to call. We look forward to hearing from you and having you as part of our program team.
