Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape – with the help of some prodigious penguins – to explore the world.

Freeze Frame Film Contest Premiere

New this year! The Freeze Frame Film Contest is a video contest for grades K-12 as part of Winter Fest. Show the world what lights your fire in winter through your very own video.

The contest encourages young individuals, or groups, to produce a short film (5 min max). The films can be of any style (live action, music videos, documentaries, stories told with photographs, etc.). The subject matter must be clean (G or PG). The premiere will show the top 7 films from each age category (K-6th, Middle School, High School) and winners in each category for individual and group will be announced that evening. 

A panel of judges (youth, professional, teacher, etc.) will determine the winners at the premiere. All the submitted video would be shown on PEGTV after the contest. 

Deadline to submit a film is FEBRUARY 8th. All applicants chosen for the Premiere will be notified by February 13th.

Snow Sculpture Contest

Let's pack the park with 20 creative snow sculptures in 2017! Register as a group or individual for Winter Fest's Snow Sculpture Contest.

About the Contest:

Registration will be taken in on a first come first serve basis (max of 20). Deadline for submissions is Wednesday February 13, 2017. Registration form must include the a selection of VERTICAL or HORIZONTAL for the 4'x4'x8' snow form. Registered sculptors must check in between 9:30AM and 11AM on the day of the contest. Sculpting the form begins at 10AM. No tools are provided, but many past participants have used: shovels, garden spades, spatulas, saws, ice scrappers, etc. No motorized tools may be used in construction. Designs must be complete by 1:30PM. Winners will be announced at 1:45PM.

RUTLAND — Rutland Youth Theatre is proud to present 'The King and I' on December 9th and 10th at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland.

Music by Richard Rodgers. Book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, II. Based on “Anna and the King” by Margaret Landon. Original Choregraphy by Jerome Robbins. 

Produced by Saskia Hagen Groom and directed by Mikki Lane, ‘The King and I’ tells the classic story of East meets West in 1862 in a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. An English widow is ordered by the King of Siam to tutor his many wives and children and to assist in changing his barbaric image. Each develop an understanding and eventually respect for one another in a truly unique love story. 

Musical Director is Melissa Chesnut-Tangerman, Choreographer is Tegan Waite. Stage Manager is Barb Lassen. 

Show times are December 9th at 7pm and December 10th at 2pm and 7pm at the Paramount Theatre, Rutland VT. Tickets just $10 children/seniors and $12 for adults.
