Day Camps: New Option for Ages

2019 Summer Information

Camp Maple Leaf: Grades K-2 (Ages 5-8) and Camp Green Mountain: Grades 3-6 (Ages 9-12)

To accommodate the needs of the community, our camp is growing! Now introducing Camp Maple Leaf and Camp Green Mountain. These two camps will participate in activities together over the weeks of Summer 2019 and also enjoy activities independent from one another. Both camps will visit a Vermont State Park every week to explore more of Vermont’s hidden treasures, additionally, camps will adventure to different field trips through out the summer during their weekly themed activities. Home base camp will be at White Memorial Park.

Our Rutland Recreation Summer Camp prides itself on providing children with a chance to experience a summer full of amazing field trips. We engage our campers in various types of physical activities, and, we expose them to Vermont's natural environment.  A summer spent with us will help to develop your child's independence--while giving them a chance to just enjoy being a kid.  Our experienced camp staff will guide your children through some of the hidden treasures that this area has to offer.

Details:
All camps offer pre and post care at no extra charge; early supervised time 7:45 to 9:00 AM and late supervised time 4:00 to 5:30 PM. 

Each camp runs weekly. If you register for 3 or more sessions of a camp you can post-date checks and we will deposit them 10 days prior to the start of the session. The first session must be paid in full at time of registration. This allows you to secure a spot in the camp. CAMPS WILL FILL UP!

* Camp fee per week $170 Resident / $181 Non-Resident
* Children grades K-6 (ages 5-12) 
Note: Camper must turn 5 before 6/18
* Swim Lessons are included in camp fee M,W,TH,F
* New this summer - 10 week package fee $1209R/$1309NR
* Sibling discount available for those purchasing the 9 week package. $1109R/$1209NR sibling.

WEEK 1: 6/17 - 6/21
NATURE IS CALLING! (Both Camps)

Start the nature with local nature! Enjoy a nature walk, learning about Vermont’s natural inhabitants and beautiful local region.

WEEK 2: 6/24-6/28
SOURING INTO SUMMER! (Both Camps)

Fly into summer on the wings of native Vermont Birds. With a trip to Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) to explore native birds and a dinosaur exhibit. A little fun at a State park and filling the week with team games, activities, and swimming.

WEEK 3: 7/1-7/5
FLAVOR FUN! (Both Camps)

Let’s have a flavor fiesta this week while we explore different flavors and foods. We will make smoothies with the smoothie bike, enjoy a quesadilla bar and an ice cream social. YUM!

WEEK 4: 7/8-7/12
MONSTER MADNESS! (Both Camps)

Take me out to the ball game and enjoy a sports themed week with a visit to a Lake Monsters game. With a visit to a State Park for some beach-side fun and games.

WEEK 5: 7/15-7/19
ADVENTURE CAMP (Green Mountain Camp)

Are you ready for some adventure? With an exciting and exhilarating trip to Killington’s Adventure Park for the mountain coaster, zip-line, ropes course and more. A little relaxation at a State Park. An amazing race, obstacle course and adventure packed activities throughout the week.

STEM Madness (Camp Maple Leaf)

Welcome to the madness! A week filled with science, engineering and problem solving. Sticky science experiments, fun STEM races and activities to fill the week.

WEEK 6: 7/22-7/26
FUN IN THE SUN! (Green Mountain Camp)

Take a break to have some fun in the sun this summer. A week filled with water themed activities, a trip to Water Slide World and a trip to a state beach. Sounds like the perfect way to spend some time in the sun.

HOME GROWTH (Camp Maple Leaf)

Exploring the healthy lifestyle and experiences Vermont provides us. With a field trip to berry pick, healthy snacks and some relaxing yoga. This is a week to find balance and explore healthy choices in a fun and exciting way.

WEEK 7: 7/29-8/2
ROLLER COASTER RUSH (Green Mountain Camp)

Rolling into this week for a rush of sensations. Trips to Great Escape and a Vermont state park. With a VR simulation of amazing roller coaster ride and ending the week with a camp field day

THROWBACK CLASSICS (Camp Maple Leaf)

A week filled with throwback classics of Summer Camp’s Past. Classic crafts, games, activities, skits, songs, and a good old fashioned campfire.

WEEK 8: 8/5-8/09
ROARING RACES (Camp Green Mountain)

On your mark, get set, Go! Get ready to race through the week with a field trip to the Fun Spot for some go karts, rollerskating, ninja-warrior and laser tag. Some beach races at a state beach to finish the week.

GOING ON A BEAR HUNT (Camp Maple Leaf)

With a visit to the Vermont Teddy Bear Co, each camper will make their own take along teddy to spend their fun filled week with. Topping the week off a teddy bear picnic and trip to a state beach.

WEEK 9: 8/12-8/16
CHAMP CAMP (Green Mountain Camp)

Celebrate the summer with adventurous and exciting week in Champ Camp. River Rafting in beautiful local rivers, rest and relaxation at the state park after a hike. Ending with a potluck to celebrate the end of another amazing summer Friday night.

ALL AROUND THE WORLD (Camp Maple Leaf)

What do Summer breaks around the world look like? Well, this week we will explore activities and traditions from all over the world. Finishing the week with a summer celebration potluck/BBQ

NATURE IS STILL CALLING: All Camps

The camp will stay local at White Memorial Park to finish up the summer, and make the summer a full 10 week camp!

Join us on a journey to fun, adventure, and imagination. We partake in hands-on projects, enjoy several forms of arts & crafts, and participate in fun outdoor activities. Children must be 3 at the start of the program and must be toilet-trained. A snack will be provided! Camp Director: Jane Brown

Training Opportunities

Looking for a great summer experience working with children? The Counselor in Training (CIT) program is a wonderful opportunity for teens who want to further develop their leadership and communication skills as well as gain experience in planning and instructing activities for young children.

  REQUIRED TRAININGS:
Saturday 6/8 AND 6/15:
9AM-1PM AT COURCELLE


First Weekend in June (day to be confirmed) 
We’ll travel to White River Junction for Summerama Staff Training. Meet at the Courcelle Building at 7:00 AM and we’ll return at approximately 3:30 PM.

Full Staff Training Saturday  6/16
The training will run from 9AM--3PM at Courcelle.

Note: All participants in the CIT Program are required to commit at least three weeks over the summer to work with the children of the Rutland Recreation Day Camp Program.
