COOKING AND BAKING
We working with local individuals and organizations to provide workshops in cooking. Past offerings have included bread baking, healthy salads paired with no bake cookies, finger foods. In 2016 a partnership was formed with Rutland Area Farm and Food Link's Everyday Chef program to offer healthy cooking workshops targeted to families as well as those living independently. Cooking Workshops with the Everyday Chef - 461011
Learn how to create your own smoothies-a nutritious and delicious breakfast that can be made in minutes. We will have and assortment of fruits and vegetables on hand, as well as buffet of different liquids you can add to smoothies. Participants will also learn knife skills and prep all ingredients. Bring your own container for a smoothie to bring home. There will be a door prize of an immersion blender or blenders.
Learn how to make this classic condiment with zucchini! Participants will sterilize jars, prep the zucchini and make the relish to can. Everyone will take home a jar, and one luck person will win a door prize of the relish ingredients!
MICROWAVE COOKING:HOLIDAY SIDE DISHES 1
Learn how to make classic holiday sides from scratch using just a microwave oven! In this workshop we will make Southern-style corn pudding, re-fried sausage stuffing, and creamed spinach. Participants will also receive hand-outs on microwave scratch cooking "hacks" and someone will win a door prize of a glass food storage container!
MICROWAVE COOKING:HOLIDAY SIDE DISHES 2
Learn how to make classic holiday sides from scratch using just a microwave oven! In this workshop we will make steamed broccoli two-ways, Italian-style polenta, and steamed kale with dried fruit. Participants will also receive hand-outs on microwave scratch cooking "hacks" and someone will win a door prize of a glass food storage container!
BREAKFAST: FAST AND DELICIOUS
Sweet and crunchy granola can be pricey in the grocery store, but it's a snap to make at home and half the cost! We will also learn how to make baked oatmeal- a sweet and hearty breakfast that will leave you satisfied and full of energy to start the day. Participants will bring home a bag of granola.
SWEETS AND SAVORIES
In this workshop we will make a hearty winter salad with nuts and fruit and follow it up with a chocolatey and nutty no bake cookies. All participants will chop veggies and make the cookies together.
