  • Godnick Adult Center

Instructor: Elena Gustavson, RAFFL

Adult - Godnick Center
Wed    1/6    1:00PM-3:00PM    $8

Cooking for yourself isn't always fun and enjoyable.  Sometimes it can seem "not worth it".  But, it doesn't have to be that way.  Put some joy back into cooking for yourself! Join Elena Gustavson, a former chef owner of two restaurants and now RAFFL's Everyday Chef.  She will demonstrate two or three dishes for class participants to replicate and sample throughout the workshop. All will be given key ingredients to try the dishes at home, recipe cards and other resources.  A few of our lucky participants will take home a hardcover copy of The Pleasures of Cooking for One by Judith Jones, legendary editor for Julia Child and James Beard, as well as part-time Vermont resident.

Notes: Please wear close-toed shoes and pull back hair that is long.

Rutland Youth Theatre presents: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (3rd performance)

  • Rutland Intermediate School

Produced and directed by Saskia Hagen Groom, it’s the classic story adapted into a comedy with music. Early on a September morning the villagers of Sleepy Hollow await their new schoolmaster. When Ichabod finally arrives, his priggish correctness casts a pall over the gossipy, prank-playing townsfolk. Soon enough, though, his genteel manners and his hymn singing impress the ladies, including Katrina Van Tassel, the town belle. The men folk are less thrilled, especially Brom Bones, Katrina's beau, and he begins plotting to rid himself of his unwelcome rival. Matters come to a head during the Van Tassel's Halloween party, after which the superstitious Ichabod is accosted on his lonely ride home by a fiendish apparition, the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. The next morning Ichabod has disappeared, leaving behind only a song in the wind, and a new legend is born.

Tickets are available at the door or tickets may be purchased in advance at the Rutland Recreation and Parks Department main office (16 North Street Extension), open Mon-Fri 8:30AM-5:00PM.
